Optic Flow by Scale - SpaceIntegration of Normal

چکیده
In this paper we will present a method for computation of optical ow elds in which we take advantage of the concept of scale. We believe that it is possible to extract optical ow elds from normal ow elds, by tting the normal components of a local polynomial model of the optic ow to the normal ow eld. This tting is based on an analytically solvable variational optimisation problem, in which an integration scale-space over the normal ow eld regularizes the solution. An automatic local scale selection mechanism is proposed in order to select proper integration scales, which will lead to an improvement of the quality of the produced optical ow eld. The optic ow method proposed in this paper is least committed in the sense that we model the local variation of the optic ow by a simple polynomial model for which the range of validity is determined by the local choice of integration scale. This makes the proposed algorithm a useful tool in e.g. experimental uid dynamics and other kinds of experimental sciences where motion analysis is predominant. The performance proole of the method is compared with that of existing optic ow techniques and we show that the proposed method outperform the leading algorithms on the benchmark image sequences proposed by Barron et al. 3].

Optic Flow Scale Space
While image scale spaces are well understood, it is undeniable that the regularisation parameter in variational optic flow methods serves a similar role as the scale parameter in scale space evolutions. However, no thorough analysis of this optic flow scale-space exists to date. Our paper closes this gap by interpreting variational optic flow methods as Whittaker-Tikhonov regularisations of the...
متن کاملStatistics of Natural Image Geometry
In computer vision and image analysis the task is to make inference about images. We want to develop algorithms that map input, consisting of one or more images, into a description of the physical world the images depict. From such descriptions, we want to deduce some information that lets us solve a certain task or problem, such as the problem of making a robotic car capable of driving autonom...
متن کاملOptic Flow from Multi-scale Dynamic Anchor Point Attributes
Optic flow describes the apparent motion that is present in an image sequence. We show the feasibility of obtaining optic flow from dynamic properties of a sparse set of multi-scale anchor points. Singular points of a Gaussian scale space image are identified as feasible anchor point candidates and analytical expressions describing their dynamic properties are presented. Advantages of approachi...
متن کاملTwo mechanisms for optic flow and scale change processing of looming.
The detection of looming, the motion of objects in depth, underlies many behavioral tasks, including the perception of self-motion and time-to-collision. A number of studies have demonstrated that one of the most important cues for looming detection is optic flow, the pattern of motion across the retina. Schrater et al. have suggested that changes in spatial frequency over time, or scale change...
متن کاملSubcutaneous Erythropoietin Reverses Optic Neuropathy Induced by Methanol Poisoning: Three case reports
Background: Methanol is a highly toxic alcohol and causes such severe side effects as CNS depression, blindness, acute renal failure and even death. Methods: Patients were three male referrals (aged 29-56 years) to the poisoning center at Taleghani Hospital, Urmia, Iran, in 2020. They had unknowingly ingested methanol. Their chief problems were bilateral blindness and metabolic acidosis. Upon ...
